It was recorded after a line-up change which saw Gene and Byron from Strapping Young Lad leave the band, to be replaced by Matt DeVries from Chimaira and a drum machine. A system above and beyond the law Follows very much in the vain of many Fear Factory songs, and their namesake ... our fear of the factory (corporation) has made us 'weal' and malleable to their needs. A quick check in the booklet showed that FF are pretty much the two of them now. Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2012, Wow, I thought these guys were dead.
However, they've had some trouble topping Demanufacture with their subsequent efforts. I love the industrial sounds throughout the album, only fitting that they should be there, perhaps that is another reason it resonates of Demanufacture rather than Mechanize to me. Mechanize was a little rough & ready, brutal & sludgy and the Industrialist was the polished, clinical followup.
There's a problem loading this menu right now. It is all really well made, well produced and hard to criticize. A must for all old-school FF fans (and new ones too!). Listened to it a few times and it has 3 pretty good songs, the rest feels like fillers. The intro of "The Industrialist" is a stark news cast like blurb with keyboards filling out the overall sound. The guitar sound is very much like "Demanufacture" and the overall album sound seems to be a journey into past glories but some of the bands chemistry seems to be missing. I don't know what it is but they seem to have recovered the heart and soul they poured on such great records as Demanufacture or Obsolete (which is kind of counterintuitive for music that's made mainly by machines!).

I still go to see them live when they are down here, I think there is a show in the very near future if Im not mistaken. Well I don't care, I am happy if Bell and Dino made up after all this time, but then you kick out your current and long time guitar/bassist and drummer??
My InterpretationA "fight" to retain our freedoms/individualism from big business, commercialisation, governments etc. What was meant to help man, will eventually be man’s demise. Must say I was completely impressed with the first ten tracks of the album, particularly the first three (Recharger, New Messiah, God Eater). Once again the album is dark and stark leaving you feeling like you have undergone an emotional ordeal that leaves you feeling hammered and frayed. Fear, the source that fuels their greed It's just a shame that their lineup has been so erratic lately. Within a few minutes of the CD starting, I realised there was a huge smile on my face.
The sound while not as gritty, reminds me a lot of Demanufacture, while there is a slight tinge of Obsolete, in sound and the over-all concept feel of the album. In the story, the automaton becomes sentient as it collects memories with each passing day.

Found out about the new album a few days ago, listened to the samples here and decided to get the release date limited edition.
