Now, I am also becoming quite a fan of John P. Marquand's adventures of Mr. Moto. I am happy I came across this book as I think it gave me a much broader understanding of the politics of the '30's as well as the culture in which Americans were thrust when living in China at that time. The plot is nothing special, but Marquand's insights or prejudices of the mid-thirties, whichever they be, make for interesting reading. This second book in the Mr. Moto series is a solid step up over the first one. This one was particularly racist and sexist unfortunately.
