It goes fine in the moment, but when they arrive home, Zoe tells him they need to talk. After 17 episodes and plenty of sadness and heartache along the way, This Is Us delivers a heart-wrenching finale that brought this reviewer to tears. They’re trying to act like nothing is wrong, but it’s clear.
Randall is sleeping at his office and Beth is at home with the girls. It would make sense, but that's not the most shocking detail. But it's unclear if "they" includes Kate.

Unlike some of the other episodes this season, This Is Us manages to nail both the sad and happy beats to perfection. Meanwhile, back at the dance studio where Beth teaches, she's asked to pick up an extra class, but the exchange between her colleague and herself makes it obvious that Beth's mindset is different than her coworkers. Randall then walks along the dimly lit corridor to a room housing his Mum, lying in her death bed with a healthy, old Nicky sat watching on.
