zion williamson wingspan

He’s built like a truck too, which, when added to his athleticism, makes him very unique. He has a very soft touch, great body control, is very explosive of off one or two feet, and can finish above, around, and through defenders (though he had issues against Tacko Fall). When this happens, players can take advantage and beat him off the bounce. Popeyes' newest item is clearly a mammoth portion of food, though the Wingspan box is more manageable when made in Williamson's honor compared to the Pelicans' previous star. But which title will prove more memorable between the two? Vanderbilt University and Cardozo Law School graduate with prior scouting experience with the Phoenix Suns and general basketball operations experience with the Tulsa Shock.

Flashes a couple of right hand moves (had a left fake, go right/baseline move later in the season). HIGH IQ, great awareness, and he’s a real defensive playmaker. Rim Protection: Has awesome timing on shot blocks and makes smart rotations. Good motor on offensive glass, strong along with leaping ability. Feet are often too close together. Post Up: Good post defender. Luckily he has the closing speed to get back into the play and make something happen, but against better athletes, this likely will not work as well (even though he is an outlier athlete. Great pre-bumps before the catch and does a nice job keeping players off of their position. Registration confirmation will be emailed to you. Use of this site constitutes acceptance of our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Has shown flashes of passing on the move in transition, has great location passing (when it gets through), and can hit guys with catchable passes. Will this advantage disappear as he gets to the next level? Athleticism / Frame Overview: Possibly the best athlete of my generation, or of all time.

Does a good job contorting his body to finish around the arms of multiple defenders (can finish in-between them, too). Medium / Realistic Outcome:  Franchise cornerstone; all star, two-way impact player.

Zion Williamson. Perhaps In-N-Out will release a Davis-inspired feast in honor of his recent trade to the Lakers? He plays the power forward position. Sports Illustrated host Robin Lundberg, SI's Ben Pickman and "The Fantasy Exec" Corey Parson ...read more.

Strength to EXPLODE through contact, hang in the air. Zion Williamson’s Wingspan. Loses focus defensively at times, gambles for blocks and steals. Not very comfortable passing with his off hand.

Nice change of pace.

Also has the ability to piece together multiple dribble sets together pretty seamlessly, which is scary for someone with his athletic package…and is even scarier when you combine his handle with his completely functional strength. Login to add posts to your read later list, 4; very high two-way impact player (more below). Shot is flat with awkward release from the side of his head.

Footwork: When he’s locked in his stance, he really moves well laterally.

Seals the post well. Tries to finish through multiple defenders a bit too much.

Even if he loses some weight, which I think he should for the wear and tear on his knees going forward, his aggressive nature will translate anyway. Conditioning questions, seems tired at times. Mechanics are a bit weird, releases from the side of his head. Nice job passing ahead after rebounds to start transition early.

33 and 1s in 33 games and he drew an enormous amount of fouls in the paint off of post ups, offensive rebounds, drives from the perimeter, or drop-offs. Looking for opportunities! Zion Lateef Williamson (born July 6, 2000) is an American professional basketball player for the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Some passes look like he pre-determines where he’s going with the ball, leading to turnovers. The Popeyes on Canal Street will be offering a one-day special with an 82-inch-long box full of chicken, which is the presumed "wingspan" of-expected No. Has great change of pace, great hips, can stop and go, and stays with players on drives. Magnetic personality, natural entertainer, great kid off the court by all accounts. Can be a bit late to contest on the perimeter because he ball watches from time to time and does not go to contest shots that he thinks are outside of his area / where he cannot get to in time (not something that happens too often, though).

Baby left hand hook.

Violent / quick moves in the post.

Will be able to guard players taller than him due to his strength advantage. Solid recognition of defensive schemes, unselfish, looks for teammates. Needs a lot of work on his jumper, but could be a C&S threat in time. SI Fantasy expert Michael Fabiano provides his Week 8 quarterback fantasy football rankings to help you dominate the competition! 1 pick Zion Williamson.

HUGE strength advantage in his lower body and upper body, but more than that, his strength is purely functional. Does not always see the court well on drives in traffic – this leads to the forced shots I mentioned above.

Good anticipation on blocks, pins shots w/o goal tending or fouling and allows for team to recover.

Synergy Profile: Defense: 71st percentile (totals if percentile not available).

When fronted, he can finish in one motion on the catch without bringing the ball down. In this scenario, he is a souped up Draymond Green type. Recognizes traps and double teams, doesn’t panic, moves the ball intelligently. Even if he does not pan out (unlikely), he will still be a high impact player on both ends of the court. Zion is a truly elite athlete with underrated feel and instincts, giving him the upside of a future NBA superstar. When he’s actually in his stance, he does a good job moving laterally – can really lock up players and be switchable…however, he often relaxes and players are able to get the advantage on him. Versatile defender with the ability to switch 1-5. Quick hands, gets a lot of strips and deflections. His wingspan advantage is apparent in his aggressive playstyle, same as LeBron, with a strong ability to drive and score but not afraid to pull up for the shot. As long as he continues to develop, intangibles are in place to be a future star. Has real switchable potential. When he’s locked in on defense, he does a great job tagging the role man / staying in help and then closing hard / timing his shot contest on the perimeter. He will be an insanely high defensive playmaker with great versatility and gravity on offense both vertically and horizontally.

Has the real potential to be a defensive playmaker in a “free safety” / back line defense role, but also someone who can lock up most players in a pinch. He has spins, in-and-outs, hesitations, crosses, etc in his arsenal.

Has the up and under/show and go.

His weight is also a bit too high, though apparently he has lost weight throughout the season and is closer to ~270. However, he is prone to going for too many pump fakes – needs to reign that in a bit. Knows how to use his strength, has great lower body positioning, and does not get bodied at all.

Good court vision and solid decision making. The box stretching Williamson's 6'10" wingspan will reportedly include 77 boneless wings, 11 biscuits and 11 orders of fries.

Touch and concentration to finish, Really well coordinated movement. Mentality Overview: Aggressive on both ends, but plays within his role. I personally think he should be aiming to play closer to 260 (I’d go for a 255-260/265 range) because his added weight, while mostly strength, could actually be limiting his athleticism and the wear and tear on his knees / lower body concerns me at a weight at 270+.

Natural instincts for where defense is coming from and going to, instinctual dribble counters. Needs to develop the right hand to further sell the drop step and to have a counter for when defenders sit on the left hand (which did happen). Pelicans' fans will only be able to purchase the Wingspan Box on Thursday.

Lower body set up takes a long time to get going, so he will need time to shoot – running off screens, or a lot of movement in general, is not something I would put him in position to do. Solid it pretty well even though defenses knew he was going back to his left. If the shot stays in the 30-36% range from 3 (inconsistent), his vertical spacing and aggressiveness attacking the rim, defensive playmaking/versatility, and two-way IQ gives him a realistic outcome of still a top impact player in the NBA.

What makes his IQ even better is that of the 80 jump shots he took, 71 of them were from the outside – this shows that he is in tune with going for paint attempts and three-point attempts. Zion Williamson has a wingspan of 6’10”, putting him near LeBron with a very wide wingspan. Born: 7/6/00 … Height: 6’6″ Wingspan: ... Zion is a truly elite athlete with underrated feel and instincts, giving him the upside of a future NBA superstar. Great job using his strength to shield off defenders on drives / in the paint (and to finish through contact, including non-calls). However, many still worry about his height, inability to hit jumpers and defensive conditioning. On the flip side, he gambles a bit too much and gets out of position (along with sending the defense scrambling).

On the catch, he has good post up positioning with his lower body (can use some work with his upper body) and does a great job not getting backed down.
