Can a gluten free person get a good meal at this restaurant? Me and hubby, a 9 year old, 6 year old and 6 month old. We could see all the tables were laid for lunch and expected the waitress to say they were too busy to serve only hot drinks to us. We used the beautifully clean toilets, stocked with white flannels and toiletries, a rarity in most pub/restaurants! more.

The food was excellent and our server Jane was an absolute delight and really engaging with the children. The provision of all of our cutlery, napkins, water glasses, condiments and our own hand gel in a little wicker basket with a friendly note is a work of genius and should be kept when the world returns to “normal” as was a really nice touch, the type of thing you expect from the guys at The Fountain. The inside is still much the same for years but does not seem tatty or tired.Had prawns and tandoori chicken skewers to start, followed by 1/2 shoulder of lamb far too much even for my hungry friend, steak and salmon wellington. There is plenty of choice locally for pub based restaurants but we thought we would try the fountain again.My wife had the sea bass which came with rice (and poppadums?) Went to the fountain for my favourite drink Pernod, but was given something that was not Pernod?Pernod always goes cloudy when mixed with ice or lemonade, this didn't?We complained, but they insisted that it was Pernod.

The service from start to finish was exceptional. There was no mention of extras but the staff brought over steamed vegetables, a serving of dauphinoise potatoes and a portion of chips! So well organised, safe and everything explained. They do not take bookings for tables in the small marquee so if you got there about 12pm you may be lucky. Great COVID measures in place with a pre-prepared hamper of sanitizer, cutlery and glasses. It is and always has been absolutely fantastic - you must visit. You’ve worked so hard fo make it work safely. Or book now at one of our other 469 great restaurants in Stourbridge. As usual cannot fault the quality of food at the Fountain today nor service (although bream was tiny while meat portions were huge), nor the covid-safe place-setting in a box.
