Protect ED

Dear Parents,

The spread of COVID-19 has not stopped College du Sacre-Coeur from fulfilling its mission. However, it has abruptly moved to online platforms and remote education. Both learners and educators have turned their homes into classes where they can work together, communicate and collaborate. They have also benefited from the classes and lessons that have been broadcast live on TV. This situation has been an occasion for all of us to reflect on the economic and political crises which have created an atmosphere of familiarity among all members of the family.

Digital technology has become the primary means of communication during home quarantine, which has prompted educators, parents and learners to adapt to this exceptional situation and to form a coherent unit.

In compliance with the directions of the Minister of Education and the Coordinator of the Lasallian Schools, the administration has taken immediate steps:

A-Continuity of Teaching and Learning

1-     Distance learning will stop on:

-        Friday, May 29, 2020 for KG1 through Grade 6.

-        Friday, June 5, 2020 for Grade 7 through Grade 12.

2-     School Report Cards will be distributed – in the different sections – according to the specific dates listed below:

-        Monday, June 15 and Tuesday, June 16, 2020: to students whose family names start with A, B, C, D, E, F and G.

-        Wednesday, June 17 and Thursday, June 18, 2020: to students whose family names start with H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P and Q.

-        Friday, June 19, 2020: to students whose family names start with R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y and Z.

3-     During July and August there will be:

-        support activities for Kindergarten and elementary students on the school site.

-        Arabic, English and French PDF eBooks for intermediate and secondary students on the school website and in their online classrooms (Google Classroom).

4-     As there is a potential need to enhance and consolidate the distance learning, the administration along with the teaching staff will choose the lessons to be adopted in September and October.

We also ask you to keep the books for the school year 2019-2020, so that your children can use them at the beginning of the school year 2020-2021.

Textbooks will be exchanged later at school.

The new school year, 2020-2021 starts on Monday, September 7, 2020.

B-Administrative Procedures for Meeting the School Staff

1-     You are kindly asked to fill out the DATA REQUEST FORM on the school website to help organize classes for the upcoming school year 2020-2021.

2-     The Principal meets parents every day – from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm.

3-     The Heads of Divisions meet parents every Wednesday and Thursday – from 8:00 am to 10:00 am.

4-     You can contact the school counsellor and the psychotherapist to schedule a meeting.

5-     The school Accounting Department is open from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm every day.

6-     Orientation sessions will be held for the ninth graders and their parents via Zoom to help familiarize them with the French        Baccalaureate and its curriculum.

The Lebanese baccalaureate students will also be directed towards the appropriate majors according to their grades.

D-Financial Continuity Planning Procedure

Taking into account the social and economic crises in the country, the Lasallian Schools all over Lebanon have taken some drastic measures:

1-     The first and second installments should be paid in full. However, the third installment has been reduced by 50%.

2-     Parents are required to pay the transportation fees for the first and second trimesters, while the fees related to the third trimester have been canceled.

3-     The registration fee will be lowered to 200,000 LBP if parents pay it before June 15, 2020 and that is to help organize classes for the upcoming school year.

Requests for financial aid may be presented to the social worker, Mrs. Caroline Maalouf.

 Administration

You are kindly requested to wear a mask, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer and maintain a physical distance from teachers and staff to ensure everybody’s safety.
